Complete Transportation Network
COMPASS’ planning and products encompass all types of transportation to provide residents choices in how and where they live, work, play, and travel. Those efforts are driven by COMPASS’ Complete Network Policy that guides how the transportation system is planned and designed to serve all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, motorists, and freight haulers.
This policy does not reflect a “one size fits all” transportation system; instead, it plans for a dynamic network that serves the unique needs of different users based on varying locations, land uses, potential destinations, and other parallel routes.
Implementation of COMPASS’ Complete Network Policy is woven throughout every aspect of COMPASS’ work, including:
- Planning for the future transportation system through the regional long-range transportation plan, Communities in Motion
- Funding transportation projects across all modes
- Conducting studies to inform planning decisions
- Budgeting COMPASS staff time and funding to support regional and local needs
- Conducting in-depth planning and analysis to provide efficient and equitable transportation options for all users:
